SHERWOOD, Ohio — Three people were injured, at least one seriously, when a car and a pickup collided Friday at an intersection in Defiance County’s Washington Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Darius Peterson, 22, of Defiance, Ohio, the car’s driver, and Earl Polter, 68, of Sherwood, who drove the pickup, were taken to Community Hospital Of Williams County — Bryan Hospital, where their conditions were unavailable.

Darrin Polter, a passenger in the pickup, was flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., according to the patrol’s Defiance post. The victim’s age and address were unavailable. A hospital spokesman said she had no information about a person by that name.

The Peterson car was eastbound on State Rt. 249 about 10:50 a.m. when it failed to yield at a stop sign at U.S. 127 and collided with the Polter pickup, southbound on Route 127, troopers said.

Both occupants of the Polter vehicle used seat belts while Mr. Peterson did not, the patrol said.

The crash remained under investigation later Friday. Sherwood is about 60 miles southwest of Toledo.
