WTVG, Salvation Army sponsor toy drive today

Hope for the Holidays, a toy drive sponsored by WTVG-TV, Channel 13 and coordinated by the Salvation Army, begins today at the local ABC affiliate’s studios at 4247 Dorr St.

More than 18,000 toys were collected and donated to area children during last year’s drive. News anchors will be outside to help collect unwrapped, new toys. The event, which runs from 5 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., will feature Santa Claus and mascots from the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University. Donors will receive free slices of pizza.

Miniature therapy horses from Serenity Farm Equestrian Center will be part of the festivities, along with music from the Greater Toledo International Youth Orchestra.
