MONROE — A state economic development grant will pay for more than two-thirds of the cost of turn-lane construction at several intersections in Monroe to support La-Z-Boy, Inc.’s construction of a headquarters complex on Stewart Road.

Sole access to the complex, which will include offices, research facilities, and manufacturing, will be via Stewart between U.S. 24 (Telegraph Road) and M-125.

The Monroe County Road Commission will build a westbound left-turn lane and an eastbound right-turn lane at that entrance and install a traffic signal there, and also will add a left-turn lane on westbound Stewart at Telegraph and a right-turn lane on northbound Telegraph at Stewart.

The total construction cost is estimated at $1,892,088, of which the state Transportation Economic Development Fund will provide $1,394,088. The rest will be covered by federal Community Development Block Grants, the road commission, and La-Z-Boy.
