Holidays in Manor House under way at Wildwood

Holidays in the Manor House, a tradition of 38 years, is under way at Wildwood Preserve Metropark, 5100 W. Central Ave.

It runs through Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Admission is free. This year the decorated 32-room mansion’s Adam Room has been transformed into a 1960s office Christmas party in the style of the television show Mad Men, and Elvis makes an appearance in the basement. Upstairs, Clara’s bedroom from The Nutcracker comes to life with the help of the Toledo Ballet, which has an image of the Manor House in Act 1 set for this season’s production of the holiday classic.

Holidays in the Manor House marks the reopening of the Georgian Colonial style mansion, which has been closed for two months for a renovation that included a new slate roof and 97 refurbished windows. New carpet also was installed in some rooms.

Individuals, families, and groups create the Holidays in the Manor House displays, often using their personal collections to depict the scenes. Last year, more than 20,000 people attended.
