ADA, Ohio — The appeal of a former Putnam County teacher convicted of sexual misconduct with female students will be before Ohio’s 3rd District Court of Appeals when it convenes Jan. 14 at Ohio Northern University.

The Lima-based court will hear two cases at 10 a.m. at ONU’s Pettit College of Law. Three of the four judges on the court — Richard Rogers, Stephen Shaw, and John Willamowski — are alumni of the law school.

The court session will begin with the appeal of Jeremy Stober, 42, a former teacher and coach in Kalida, Ohio, who was convicted by a jury in Putnam County Common Pleas Court in August of sexual battery, importuning, and three counts of gross sexual imposition.

The second case before the court involves a civil suit filed against the Mercer County commissioners over the death of a motorcyclist who was struck by a county-owned gravel spreader.
