Curtis Johnson of Fayette is among nine people from across Ohio recognized by the Ohio Fair Managers’ Association for their support of local fairs. Mr. Johnson, director of the Fulton County Fair from 1981 through 2012, is credited with continuously looking for ways to improve the fair, increase efficiency, and further the mission to educate the general public about agriculture and its important role in the community.

A former dairyman, Mr. Johnson promoted dairy education by giving the milking parlor a prominent place among the fair’s attractions and posting a milking schedule convenient to fair-goers. He also came up with an innovative way to make fairgrounds bleachers mobile by installing casters (wheels) and reorganized the fair buildings to create more space.
