Deputy leader chosen for council's top position

Kathleen Lomako has been appointed executive director of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments by the agency’s executive committee of local elected officials.

Ms. Lomako, 58, will replace Paul Tate, who is retiring at the end of March. She is SEMCOG’s sixth executive director since the organization was formed in 1968, and the first woman to hold the post.

She has worked at SEMCOG since 1978 and has been deputy executive director since 1998.

Her annual salary will be $168,000.
