Sylvania Avenue detour, sewer work continues

Fewer repairs that have closed part of Sylvania Avenue since last week now are expected to take through next week to complete.

During heavy rain last Thursday, part of a sewer beneath Sylvania between Burnham Street and Vermaas Avenue collapsed, closing the street’s westbound lane.

Since then, westbound traffic has been detoured via Seiss and Phillips avenues. City officials initially announced Friday as their completion goal, but said Wednesday that work should end March 7.
