A Sylvania Township man was arrested Thursday in connection with a Michigan credit union holdup, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the man, whom they did not identify, may be the lone gunman who robbed the Education Plus Credit Union at 3558 Sterns Rd. at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and then fled.

Deputies disseminated photos of the robber and the getaway vehicle, a gray Chevrolet Impala, resulting in tips identifying a 27-year-old man, who was arrested about 9:45 a.m. Thursday by officers from the Sylvania Township and Toledo police departments and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, on an unrelated burglary warrant.

A search revealed he was in possession of a large sum of money that was identified as stolen from the credit union, and it found additional evidence in his home linking the man to the robbery, deputies said. He was being held in the Lucas County jail and Monroe County will seek charges of armed robbery.
