Part of Brint Road in Sylvania Township was closed for a second day Tuesday while crews repaired a natural-gas pipeline broken Monday during power-line relocation for a road project.

A crew from Kenneth G. Myers Construction, of Green Springs, Ohio hit the four-inch, medium-pressure gas line while using an auger to drill holes for Frontier Communications poles to be moved for a roundabout at Brint and King roads.

Jake Selvey, a construction superintendent, said the company was investigating how the accident occurred, as underground utilities in the area had been marked with flags through the Ohio Utilities Protection Service.

Brint and King were closed Monday afternoon after the main was struck about 2:30 p.m. They reopened later that evening, but Brint closed again just west of King on Tuesday for the repair. The road was reopened by Tuesday evening.
