MONROE — The body of a Monroe man was pulled from the Dunbar Quarry in Monroe Township on Sunday.

Deputies were sent to the quarry area about 2:30 p.m. to investigate an abandoned vehicle along Hull and Dunbar roads. Deputies saw clothing, keys, and a wallet belong to the registered owner of the abandoned vehicle, and a dive team was called out to assist with searching the water within the quarry.

Within a few minutes, divers recovered the body of Bruce A. Chamberlain, 52, in about 16 feet of water near the southeast portion of the quarry. Mr. Chamberlain was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dive team was called based on the personal items being within close proximity to the water’s edge and information that the vehicle owner had not been in contact with family.

The incident remains under investigation by Deputy Randy Krupp and Detective Brian Sroka at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 734-240-7530.
