Here comes the parade, music, food, fireworks

Patrons enjoy the fireworks display at the Star Spangled Banner celebration held at Fort Meigs in Perrysburg.
Area communities are hosting numerous events — including fireworks shows — this holiday weekend:
Toledo — Red, White, KABOOM begins at 6 p.m. today on both sides of the Maumee River.
A list of select businesses and services follows:
Schools
Owens Community College’s Perrysburg Township and Findlay-area campuses as well as the Arrowhead Park Learning Center in Maumee and the Learning Center at The Source in downtown Toledo are closed.
The University of Toledo is not having classes.
Public utilities
Toledo’s Department of Public Utilities is closed, along with Toledo Edison and its parent company, FirstEnergy.
Emergency services are available to customers.
Libraries
The Main Toledo-Lucas County Public Library downtown and all its branches are closed.
Mail service
Post offices are closed; mail will not be delivered.
Parking
Meter parking in downtown Toledo is free.
Retail centers
Franklin Park Mall, Fallen Timbers, and Levis Commons are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Trash pickup
Refuse collection are delayed one day for Toledo residents; collection services in other communities vary.
Bus service
Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority buses are operating on a holiday schedule.
International Park is designated as the family area and will be alcohol-free.
The Jamm Band, featuring Bruce Sims will perform from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The event will benefit Imagination Station and admission is free.
Because of scheduling problems, food trucks will not be operating.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, beer, and other beverages will be available from vendors in Promenade Park, but not at International Park across the Maumee River.
The event is organized by The Blade with additional major sponsorship from Taylor Automotive Group and Humana.
Fremont — The “Rockin’ in the USA” Parade is at 10 a.m. today. The one-mile parade route starts at Birchard Library, proceeds along Paseo Padre Parkway, and ends on Liberty Street.
Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. at Walsh Park, 754 Morrison St.
Luna Pier — Garage sales Saturday will be followed by a fireworks show to begin at dusk at Luna Pier on Lakewood Ave.
Oregon — Boomfest is today at Oak Shade Grove, 3624 Seaman Rd.
The Cruisin’ the Grove Car Show is from 2 to 6 p.m.
Live entertainment starts at 5 p.m. with performances by Berlin featuring Terri Nunn, KGB Motown Band, and Arctic Clam band.
There will be food, drinks, and activities for adults and children.
Free entry and parking.
Port Clinton — Festivities take place throughout the day today.
The Star Spangled Squirt Gun Run/​Walk 5K will begin at 8 a.m. at Jefferson Street Pavilion.
At 3 p.m., there will be a classic car show in the 100 block of Adams St.
There also will be an Ice Cream, Pie, and Hot Dog Social and the Firecracker Cutie Contest at Trinity United Methodist Church at 3 p.m.
The Voices of Freedom Concert will begin at 7 p.m.
The Family Dance Party will be at 8 p.m.
The day ends with fireworks at 10 p.m. at Water Works Park.
Swanton — Fireworks are at dusk Saturday at Swanton High School, 601 N. Main St.
Parking, seating, and concessions will be at the high school.
The rain date is Sunday.
Wauseon — Music and entertainment in Dorothy Biddle Park is from 4 to 10 p.m. today
Bean-bag toss tournament registration starts at 4 p.m.
A beer garden is to open at 4 p.m. Local band Sugar Frog will play from 8 to 10 p.m. before fireworks at 10 p.m.
Inflatables will be set up for children and drinks and snacks will be sold.
Whitehouse — The village celebrates its 150th birthday Saturday in Village Park from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
There will be a parade at 10 a.m.
Throughout the day, there will be food vendors, live music, an antique car and tractor show, 1864 re-enactments, and a pie baking contest. From 1 to 5 p.m. there will be horse and carriage rides. A singing contest will be at 2 p.m.
