Toledo woman accused of intoxication in death

Police allege that Lora L. Staton was intoxicated when she ran a stop sign and slammed into a motorcyclist last month.

The man she struck, Vince Popp, 43, of Sylvania died of the injuries he suffered when the two collided at West Alexis Road and Recamper Drive at 2:30 a.m. on June 9. Ms. Staton, 34, of 504 W. Alexis Rd. was arraigned Friday in Toledo Municipal Court on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide.

She remained in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond. According to court documents, Ms. Staton’s blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent at the time of the crash. The legal limit in Ohio, for drivers 21 and older, is 0.08 percent.
