LaSalle Twp. crash leaves 1 dead

LaSALLE, Mich. - A 22-year-old woman was killed Monday in a crash at Stein and South Telegraph roads in LaSalle Township, the Monroe County Sheriff‘‍s Office said.

Brittany E. Ames, of Tecumseh, Mich., was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. 

She was driving a 2011 Mercury Mariner west on Stein shortly after 5 p.m. when she failed to yield for the stop sign at Telegraph and collided with a northbound tow truck.

The driver of the truck, Scott A. Kopke, 45, of St. Clair Shores, Mich., was not hurt. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, deputies said.

The accident remains under investigation.
