About 120 without power after high winds in Toledo area
Tree limbs, power lines down
1/11/2017More than 100 Toledo Edison customers remained out of power today after gusty winds disrupted power lines at several locations across Lucas County, a spokesman said.
Downed tree limbs and trees dropped power lines at several locations in different parts of Toledo late Tuesday and early today, according to police radio traffic. There was no word of injuries.
Chris Eck, a utility spokesman, said about 117 utility customers were still without power in the county, 105 of them in the city, Wednesday afternoon, after crews restored power to most of the about 13,000 affected customers overnight. Utility crews working to restore power to the customers who remained without power expected to finish the job by noon Thursday, he said.
Also, several street lights were down early today, including the traffic light at West Sylvania and Whiteford Road in Sylvania Towhisp. The light was partially fixed and was in the “flashing red” mode by about 9:20 a.m., according to the township police.
Paul Walker, a senior meteorologist for the AccuWeather, a private weather forecasting service in State College, Pa., said winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts of up to 47 mph were recorded at the Toledo Express Airport, with the highest reading taken at 10 p.m. The winds dropped about 5 a.m. to about 6 to10 mph, he said.
Winds will be between 10 and 20 mph today, coming from the south, with gusts of up to 25 mph, according to the AccuWeather. Tonight, the winds will go up to between 15 and 25 mph, coming from the southwest, with gusts of up to 35 mph.
