Toledo man sentenced in drive-by shooting

A Toledo man found guilty of two weapons charges stemming from a drive-by shooting was placed on community control for two years Wednesday by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gary Cook.

David Estis, Jr., 19, of the 4600 block of Harford Road pleaded no contest Oct. 11 and was found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle. Shots were fired from a vehicle at Estis’ former girlfriend’s car July 16 near Broadway and Lorain Street.

Five others were in the car.

Co-defendant Trayvon Estis, 21, pleaded no contest Oct. 18 to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing official business for giving police false information when the vehicle was stopped. He was placed on probation for a year and fined $100.
