Police are investigating a South Toledo shooting that sent a person to the hospital Friday.
Officers responded about 4:15 p.m. to a shooting in the 600 block of Thayer Street, near Prouty Avenue. The victim was struck and taken to University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital. He suffered injures that did not appear life-threatening, police said.

Police detained the suspected gunman after a brief foot pursuit. A department spokesman said investigators appreciated tips from the public that led to the quick arrest. Authorities did not immediately release the name of the victim or suspected shooter.
