BOWLING GREEN — A rural Bowling Green man charged with causing his 3-month-old son’s death was indicted this week by a Wood County grand jury.

Brian Steinmiller, 31, was indicted for murder, involuntary manslaughter, and four counts of endangering children for allegedly causing injuries, and ultimately the death of Carter Steinmiller on May 5. Mr. Steinmiller, who was arrested for murder and endangering children last week, is being held in the Wood County jail.

The indictment alleges Mr. Steinmiller recklessly abused and recklessly created a substantial risk of harm to young Carter between Feb. 1 and May 4 as well as causing his death on May 5. An autopsy concluded that the infant died from abusive head trauma. His case has been assigned to Wood County Common Pleas Judge Robert Pollex.

The baby’s mother, Rebecca Steinmiller, 25, has been charged with one count of endangering children. Authorities said she knew the baby’s arm was broken but did not seek treatment or notify law enforcement.
