Hacking group claims it breached Senate website, publishes evidence of break-in

WASHINGTON — A hacking group that prides itself on attacking weakly protected websites for fun says it has breached the Web site of the Senate.

It's not clear whether Lulz Security has stolen any sensitive material, but on Monday it published an internal file that suggested it had indeed breached the Senate's website.

The group has claimed credit for hacking into the systems of Sony and Nintendo, and fro defacing the PBS website after the public television broadcaster aired a documentary seen as critical of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

The Senate sergeant-at-arms, Terry Gainer, was expected to release a statement in the wake of the claim.
