'Beekeeper’s Apprentice’ picked for B.G. readers


BOWLING GREEN — The Beekeeper’s Apprentice by Laurie R. King has been selected for this year’s Bowling Green Community Reads program.

Area readers will be asked to read the book, a mystery set a century ago in England during which a young orphan meets and befriends the retired detective, Sherlock Holmes.

Community Reads will kick off with a presentation by the book’s author at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wood County District Public Library. Other events include a honey recipe exchange and beekeeping demonstration at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the library and a costume contest and readings from the book by the Bowling Green High School Drama Club at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
