FINDLAY — An I-75 traffic stop that yielded more than 300 illegal prescription pills early Friday was the third such case within about eight hours statewide, resulting in total seizures valued at about $35,000, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Driver Bemories Brabson, 31, and passenger Victoria Means, 28, both of Knoxville, Tenn., were charged with illegal possession of controlled substances following the 1:43 a.m. traffic stop in Findlay. Troopers said marijuana visible in the car resulted in a probable-cause search that turned up 186 Xanax tablets, 60 Suboxone tablets, and 59 morphine sulphate tablets.

Troopers making a traffic stop at 7:26 p.m. Thursday on I-75 near Bowling Green smelled raw marijuana and searched that car. After finding packages containing 1,171 hydrocodone tablets and 450 Xanax tablets in the trunk, they arrested Walter D. Johnson, 26, of Lexington, Ky., and charged him with trafficking and possession of drugs.

The third seizure was in Ross County south of Columbus at 6 p.m. Thursday. It involved a Detroit man accused of transporting illegal Oxycontin, Percocet, and Xanax tablets hidden in his car’s dashboard.

Earlier Thursday, troopers arrested a Columbus man after seizing half a pound of hydroponically grown marijuana after a traffic stop on I-75 at U.S. 68 in Findlay.

Sam Hammonds, 28, is charged with possession of marijuana and of a schedule II substance, both fifth-degree felonies. Besides the pot, troopers found drug paraphernalia and prescription pills in that car.
