DOWNPOUR FLOODS AREAS OF WEST TOLEDO

Heavy rain causes flooding

6/26/2014
Vehicles make their way through high water on Sylvania Avenue after a heavy downpour Wednesday. The water-covered streets stalled traffic on some West Toledo streets and stranded a few vehicles around 6 p.m. The area has dealt with frequent flooding before, dating to at least 2007, and the daily rain this week has proved too much for the drainage system to effectively handle. No rain is in the forecast at least until Saturday, when the likelihood is estimated at 30 percent, increasing to 40 percent on Sunday, with highs in the upper 70s today and in the 80s through the weekend. DETAILS, WEATHER MAPS ARE ON PAGE B8.
