The death of a man who died after he was assaulted in April has been ruled a homicide by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.

Robert Turner, Jr., 27, was assaulted outside of Malibu’s, a sports bar at 2045 W. Alexis Rd., on April 12. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of the death, the coroner’s office said the death was “suspicious” but did not immediately rule on a cause of death because the autopsy was “inconclusive.” A death listing for the victim states he died of ventricular arrhythmia, or abnormal heart rhythms.

“He was not beaten to any great degree. His heart stopped after the physical altercation,” said Dr. Cynthia Beisser, a Lucas County deputy coroner. “It played a role in his death.”

Michael Boswell, 40, of 1318 Brooke Park Drive had been charged with obstructing official business for allegedly witnessing the assault, but those charges were dismissed on April 17 in Toledo Municipal Court.

Police have not charged anyone with Mr. Turner’s death.
