CLEVELAND  — Kent State's Justin Green is the Mid-American Conference's player of the year and his coach, Geno Ford, is the MAC's top coach.

Green averaged 15.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks this season.

The 6-foot-7 junior forward is the third player in school history to win the MAC's top individual award, joining DeAndre Haynes (2006) and Al Fisher (2008).

It's the second straight award for Ford, who led the Golden Flashes to a 21-10 record and their second consecutive regular-season title.

Kent State is the top seed in this week's conference tournament.

Green received seven votes from a 20-member media panel, which also gave four votes to Ohio's D.J. Cooper and Miami's Julian Mavunga.
