Ottawa Hills wins singles, doubles

St. Ursula, Perrysburg earn titles

It was a good day to be a Green Bear.

Ottawa Hills took home singles and doubles championships at the girls Division II district tennis meet at Findlay High School Saturday to advance to the state tournament.

Drew Fillis rallied from a set down to win the singles crown 6-7 (9), 6-4, 6-3 over Ashley LaFountain of Oak Harbor.

In doubles play, Ottawa Hills' team of Shivani Bhatt and Nancy Rumpf defeated Lexington's Elise Betscher and Jillian Earnest 6-2, 6-1.

The Perrysburg doubles pair of Cammy Messenger and Carmen Alkire won the Division I crown with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 victory over Notre Dame's Kerigan McNamara and Teagan McNamara.

The Division I singles crown was captured by St. Ursula's Kennedy Shaffer who defeated Central Catholic's Sydney Delp 6-3, 6-4.

In D-I the top two reach the state tournament while in D-II the top three advance. In the D-II singles consolation match Lexington's Courtney Earnest won 6-1, 6-0 over Shawnee's Lauren Rovner while in doubles, Clyde's duo of Amanda Cahill and Alexis Weber beat Celina's Audra Manci and Samantha Manci 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
