Polls rank Wolverines 12th, 9th

Despite winning the Sugar Bowl, Michigan failed to crack the top 10 of the final Associated Press poll and finished 12th .

The Wolverines (11-2) were ninth in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Michigan State was one spot ahead of the Wolverines in the AP poll and one spot behind them in the Coaches Poll. Wisconsin was 10th and 11th.

Michigan will open next season against defending national champion Alabama in a game played Sept. 1 in Dallas. The Wolverines will be honored Wednesday at the Crisler Center during the men's basketball game against Northwestern for their win over Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 3.
