BG men receive tourney invite

The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team has accepted an invitation to play in the CollegeInsider.com postseason tournament, the school announced Sunday.

The Falcons will face Oakland University on Wednesday, March 14. Tipoff at the O’rena in Rochester, Mich., is set for 7 p.m.

The CollegeInsider.com postseason tournament is a single-elimination tournament, consisting of 24 schools, with all games played on campus sites. The opening round will be played on March 12-15, second round on March 16-18, quarterfinals on March 19-21, semifinals on March 22-24 and championship game on March 28. The Falcons will be making their first-ever appearance in the CIT and 19th post-season appearance in program history, with the most-recent coming in the 2009 NIT.

Bowling Green has posted a 16-15 record this season, including a 9-7 mark in Mid-American Conference play that was the fifth-best mark in league play. Oakland, which is coached by BG alumnus Greg Kampe, posted a 17-15 overall record and placed third in the Summit League with an 11-7 mark.
