BOWLING GREEN -- Virginia Commonwealth's Andrea Barbour drove the length of the floor and hit a layup at the buzzer to give VCU a 72-71 win over the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team in a Women's National Invitation Tournament first-round game at the Stroh Center Thursday.
Barbour finished with 20 points while teammate Courtney Hurt had 30 points and 17 rebounds for the Rams, who improved to 18-14.
Jessica Slagle, whose two free throws with 5.1 seconds left gave the Falcons a short-lived 71-70 advantage, finished with 23 points. Jessica Matthews had 13 points while Chrissy Steffen added 12 for BG, which finished 24-7.
