Perrysburg softball falls to Elyria

CLYDE, Ohio -- Elyria capitalized on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Perrysburg 6-5 today in a Division III regional softball semifinal.

Down 5-3 after five, Caitlin Minney's RBI single cut Perrysburg's lead to 5-4. Two batters later and with two outs, Yellow Jackets second baseman Kaitlin Zampino misplayed a pop fly that allowed the tying and go-ahead runs to score.

Katie Dunphy hit a home run and went 3 for 3 for Perrysburg (19-9).

Elyria (25-2) will face Notre Dame Academy at noon Saturday at Joe Wilson Field in Clyde in the Division III regional title game.
