The Tigers made several moves following the team's loss to Minnesota Monday night.

First, Detroit announced that Tuesday's scheduled starter, Max Scherzer, would miss that start because of left hamstring soreness. LHP Duane Below will start in Scherzer's place Tuesday, although Scherzer is expected to make his next scheduled start on Sunday.

To bolster its bullpen, the Tigers called up RHP Jose Ortega from Toledo and purchased the contract of LHP Darin Downs from the Mud Hens. Detroit will need to make a move before Tuesday's game to make room for Downs on the team's 40-man roster.

The Tigers optioned RHP Luis Marte and IF Danny Worth to the Mud Hens to make room for Ortega and Downs on the 25-man roster.
