BROOKLYN, Mich. - Michigan International Speedway announced today it will host a one-day tire test for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams.

MIS officials anticipate more than 20 drivers to take part in the testing session July 30, though Goodyear has not yet released the final confirmation of the teams and drivers who will participate.

The tire test comes less than three weeks before the Pure Michigan 400 on Aug. 19 at MIS.

Robin Pemberton, NASCAR’s vice president of competition, said in a statement that the testing session will help Goodyear select a tire that’s more compatible with the repaved surface on the two-mile oval.

Fans can watch the testing free of charge. The track will open the Turn 1 grandstand on July 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
