CITY: Rogers' defense comes up big; Johnson leads Start over Scott

At Waite, the Rams defense came through in the clutch, stopping the Indians four times in the red zone, and got a key third-quarter fumble recovery return for a touchdown by Keandre Gilmer Friday night in a City League game.

Dominic Jones tossed a 70-yard TD pass to Josh Taliaferro, and Milton Roberts caught a 51-yard pass for a score from half back Chris Austin for the Rams (4-2, 1-0).

Waite's Johnny Douanglee had a five-yard scoring run, and Markese Roberts had 15-yard TD scamper for the Indians (0-6, 0-1).

Start 27, Scott 8

Dexter Johnson scored two touchdowns, on a 20-yard run and a 60-yard kickoff return, as the Spartans won at home.

Will Goodbar ran into the end zone from five yards out to begin the scoring for Start (2-4, 1-0 CL), giving the Spartans a 6-0 lead at halftime. DeShaun Rumfield added a five-yard run in the third quarter to make it 12-0 before Start dominated the fourth. Jordan McArthur added a sack in the end zone for a safety.

Reuben Pratt's 10-yard run was the lone TD for Scott (2-4, 0-1).
