TAC: Green Bears pull away for victory; Rangers roll

Ottawa Hills 34, Edon 8

Leading 6-0 at halfime, the Green Bears exploded for 28 third-quarter points at home Friday night to pull away from the Bombers in a Toledo Area Athletic Conference game.

Will Longthorne led Ottawa Hills (4-2, 3-0 TAAC) with 12 carries for 74 yards, including touchdown runs of 22 and 27 yards sandwiched around Michael Geiger's 20-yard interception return for a score during the decisive quarter to sink Edon (3-3, 1-2).

Jack Wollenburg added two touchdowns from 26 yards — one a run, the other a catch from quarterback Jonathan Rodriguez, who completed 12 of 24 passes for 84 yards.

Ottawa Hills outgained Edon 144-54 on the ground, but was also penalized 18 times for 135 yards.

Connor Hug scored on a 23-yuard pass from Kaden Sapp for Edon (3-3, 1-2).

Northwood 54, Hilltop 7

WEST UNITY — Jake Davenport made two touchdown catches (55 and 19 yards) and scored on a 33-yard interception return during a 34-point first quarter as the Rangers won on the road.

Northwood (6-0, 3-0 TAAC) struck first on a one-yard run by Nick Whitmore. Dominik Bermejo added a 62-yard punt return for a score, and Nick Russell's TD passes to Davenport helped forge a 34-0 lead through one.

Jordan Schell and Jake Zieroff added touchdown runs for Northwood, and Brandon Kretz caught a 17-yard TD pass from Russell, who completed 6 of 7 passes for 147 yards and three scores. The Rangers dominated in total offense 441-106.

Mikel Burlew connected with Logan Brooker on a 60-yard touchdown pass for Hilltop (2-4, 0-3).
