    Ball State leads Toledo 24-20 heading into the fourth quarter.

    The Cardinals went ahead early in the quarter on the second touchdown connection between quarterback Keith Wenning and Jamill Smith.

    The Rockets, who are at BSU's 16, got a 22-yard Jeremiah Detmer field goal.

    HALFTIME

    It's knotted up at halftime, with Toledo and Ball State heading into their locker rooms tied 17-17.

    Toledo embarked on an eight play, 84-yard drive before the half, capped by Cassius McDowell's second touchdown of the year, of four yards.

    Jeremiah Detmer made his 12th straight field goal, of 29 yards, for Toledo's remaining points.

    Cheatham Norrils picked off a pass at the end of the half after Ball State drove to UT's 43.

    UT's David Fluellen (152 rushing yards on 20 carries) eclipsed 100 yards for the sixth straight game.

    FIRST QUARTER

    No. 23 Toledo trails Ball State 14-7 after the first quarter at the Glass Bowl.

    The Rockets went down 14-0 before Terrance Owens and Bernard Reedy hooked up for a 24-yard touchdown strike.

    UT senior safety Mark Singer is out with a sore knee.
