Owens picked off twice in 3rd quarter as NIU takes 28-14 lead over Toledo

DEKALB, Ill. — Northern Illinois has stormed back and leads 28-14 entering the fourth quarter.

Toledo quarterback Terrance Owens was intercepted twice in the quarter, giving him three for the game.

SECOND QUARTER

Toledo leads Northern Illinois 14-7 at halftime at Huskie Stadium.

Quarterback Terrance Owens added to the Rockets' lead with a 1-yard TD run with 3:28 remaining in the second quarter.

NIU got on the board with 6:27 left in the half on Jordan Lynch's 5-yard pass in the corner of the end zone to Martel Moore. The Huskies converted on fourth-and-1 and third-and-8 to extend the drive.

FIRST QUARTER

Toledo leads Northern Illinois 7-0 after the first quarter at Huskie Stadium.

David Fluellen's 1-yard touchdown run capped a 12-play opening drive for the Rockets.

Both teams have lost a fumble — NIU at UT's 7, and UT at NIU's 36.
