CLEVELAND --- The University of Toledo men's basketball team led for the first 39 minutes Saturday at Cleveland State but faltered down the stretch, losing 78-73.

CSU's Charlie Lee gave his team its first lead with 31 seconds left on a 3-pointer before the Vikings turned a bad UT pass into an easy lay up, pushing the lead to five.

Strong post play allowed UT (2-5) to lead by as many as nine points in the second half. Matt Smith poured in 20 points, and Reese Holliday and Nathan Boothe followed with 16 and 15, respectively.

Point guard Julius Brown, who is battling an illness, turned the ball over twice late and finished with seven turnovers.

Lee led CSU (6-2) with 22 points.
