No Naama, no problem as Toledo women roll to 59-43 win over SIU-Edwardsville


Despite sitting out the second half with an injury, point guard Naama Shafir led the Toledo women's basketball team with 12 points in a 59-43 win over SIU-Edwardsville today at Savage Arena in the Glass City Tournament.

Toledo sports information department said that Shafir tweaked her ankle late in the first half, and she did not play in the second half for Toledo (5-1), which led SIU-Edwardsville 41-16 at halftime. Inma Zanoguera, Riley McCormick and Andola Dortch each had nine points for the Rockets.

Tierny Austin led SIU-Edwardsville (3-4) with seven points.

Toledo will face St. Bonaventure at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Savage Arena in the final game of the Glass City Tournament.
