Central sweeps St. Francis 59-32

The Central Catholic boys basketball team opened its season opener against St. Francis de Sales tonight with a 16-2 run and never looked back.

The Irish cruised to a 59-32 home win as senior Deontae Cole scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the decisive first half.

Central (1-0 overall, 1-0 Three Rivers Athletic Conference) forced 14 turnovers in the first half to build a 29-10 lead.

Cole knocked down five 3-pointers in the first two quarters. Five of the first six made field goals came from 3-point range for the Irish.

Senior Jay Snell paced St. Francis (0-3, 0-2) with eight points.
