Toledo women beat Charlotte 76-66, improve record to 11-1 on the season

ATLANTA, Ga. — The University of Toledo women’s basketball team ran its win streak to 10 with a 76-66 victory over Charlotte today in the opening game of the Georgia State Holiday Tournament in the GSU Sports Arena. With the triumph, the Rockets improve to 11-1 on the season.

UT advances to play the host Panthers in Sunday’s championship game at approximately 4 p.m. Georgia State defeated Mississippi Valley State, 76-60, in the other first-round contest.

Yolanda Richardson paced Toledo with a career-high 24 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds and one blocked shot. Richardson shot 12 of 17 from the field to score at least 20 points in a game for the fourth time in her collegiate career.

Toledo also received 10 points each from Naama Shafir and Inma Zanougera, as well as nine points each from Lecretia Smith and Andola Dortch to extend its win streak to double digits for the ninth time in school history.

The Rockets shot 45.6 percent (31-of-68) from the field, including 22.2 percent (4-of-18) on 3-pointers, and 62.5 percent (10-of-16) from the free-throw line to surpass the 70-point plateau for the seventh time this season.

The 49ers (8-3) led at halftime 30-28.
