Notes: Michigan and South Carolina meet for the first time in more than 27 years. UM won 34-3 in the last meeting on Sept. 21, 1985 in Columbia, S.C., and lost to the Gamecocks 17-14 on Sept. 27, 1980 at Michigan Stadium. … Michigan is 20-21 in bowl games. … Michigan coach Brady Hoke said Devin Gardner will start at quarterback. Gardner started the final four regular-season games after an injury to Denard Robinson.
