Toledo Walleye overcome early deficit to claim 2-1 win over Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Walleye won their second straight game as they rallied to knock off Evansville 2-1 tonight.

Toledo fell behind 1-0 early in the second period. But Adam Hobson tied it up with a power play goal midway through the middle period. Newly acquired forward Nino Musitelli then scored the game winner early in the third period.

Walleye goalie Jordan Pearce finished with 22 saves to get the win.

Hobson scored his fourth of the season on assists from Olivier Dame-Malka and Musitelli.

Musitelli, who was signed on Tuesday, also scored in Toledo's win 5-3 win over Fort Wayne on Friday. Defenseman Erik Spady, who also was signed this week, assisted on Musitell's goal along with Travis Novak.

Toledo outshot the Icemen 32-23, including 12-8 in the third period.

The Walleye closed a five-game road trip with a 2-3-0 record and have the next five days off for the ECHL all star break. They return home for three games next weekend beginning Friday against the Kalamazoo Wings at the Huntington Center.
