National Signing Day arrives as top athletes put commitments in writing

Starting at 7 a.m. and throughout the day today fax machines on high school and college campuses across the country will be buzzing, beeping and whirring as some of the nation's top athletes sign their letters of intent and declare allegiance to schools and sports. 

At the University of Toledo, a top prospect from Detroit will finally nail down his decision. Nothing is for sure for but "We’ll list Toledo for now," says Cass Tech coach Thomas Wilcher, who has sent 15 players to FBS schools in the past six years. READ MORE

Rockets finalize recruiting class with Fla. receiverThe University of Toledo football team finalized its recruiting class with a bang, landing an acclaimed receiver from Florida. Rodney Adams, who was once committed to Florida, chose the Rockets over Cincinnati. READ MORE 

At Ohio State, another highly touted recruiting class will come to fruition under the watchful eye of  Urban Meyer. The Buckeyes' 24-member class this year is considered one of the best in the nation and includes Central Catholic standout Jayme Thompson. READ MORE

Buckeyes land pair of top prospects in Bell, ClarkOhio State coach Urban Meyer backed up his reputation as one of the nation's top closers in recruiting as the Buckeyes landed a pair of top prospects today. Five-star Georgia safety Vonn Bell announced he will attend Ohio State over Tennessee while four-star receiver James Clark chose the Buckeyes over home-state Florida. The Falcons of BGSU will have a bit of a Florida flavor this year with at least eight recruits from the Sunshine State expected to sign a letters of intent. Closer to home, the Falcons are expected to add Southview's Austin Valdez to their roster. READ MORE

BGSU nets 22 verbal commitments on signing day: The Bowling Green State University football received all 22 verbal commitments it expected well before noon today, completing a class that is ranked tops in the Mid-American Conference by both ESPN.com and 247sports.com The group includes a pair of local athletes, Southview quarterback Austin Valdez and Findlay punter Joseph Davidson. The University of Michigan, the winningest program in Division I football history, expects to add to that tradition by focusing on the running game this year. Scout.com ranked Michigan’s incoming class, which has 27 verbal commitments, first, while 247Sports ranked it fourth, ESPN fifth, and Rivals.com sixth. Wolverines receive 27 recruits: There were no surprises today among the University of Michigan's football signees. Of the 27 projected recruits in the class of 2013, all are expected to be a part of the Wolverines. In addition to six early enrollees with the Michigan football program, 21 high school seniors delivered their National Letters of Intent to the Wolverines before noon today. READ MORE
