BOWLING GREEN -- The Bowling Green hockey team suffered a 5-2 loss to Northern Michigan in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Ice Arena tonight.

The Falcons scored twice late in the second period to make things close, but the Wildcats' Erik Higby scored the only goal of the third period at 14:04 to seal the win.

Bowling Green falls to 12-16-5 overall and 9-13-3-1 in the CCHA, while NMU now is 14-15-4 and 8-13-4-1 -- and just two points behind the Falcons in the fight to host a first-round series in the CCHA playoffs.

BG's Tommy Burke finished with 16 saves, while Northern Michigan's Jared Coreau stopped 37 shots.
