University of Toledo men's basketball beats Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. — The University of Toledo men beat Eastern Michigan, 78-67, Saturday to finish tied for the best record in the Mid-American Conference West division.The MAC will not recognize the postseason-banned Rockets (15-13, 10-6) as champions, but the university plans to raise a banner at Savage Arena and distribute rings to team members.

Toledo shot 50 percent from the field, and received a season-high 21 points from senior Dominique Buckley in his final college game. Buckley made five 3-pointers.

Western Michigan beat visiting Central Michigan to draw even with Toledo in the standings.

Julius Brown had 19 points and 12 assists for Toledo. Rian Pearson scored 18 points and Matt Smith produced 10 of his 12 points in the second half.
