4 men, 4 women from Owens basketball teams mak All-OCCAC

Four men and four women from Owens Community College basketball teams earned Ohio Community College Athletic Conference honors.

Sophomore James Kelly headlined the men’s group by earning a spot on the All-OCCAC first team.

Freshman Joe Retic II was selected to the second team, while sophomore Franklin Lindsey (Whitmer) and guard Tony Boykins earned honorable mention.

Sophomore Mackenzie Heacock was named to the women’s first team.

Freshman Jordyn Bond and sophomore Karahn Scott (Scott) were named to the second team, while sophomore Danielle Bezeau (Swanton) was honorable mention.

The Express men and women will play in the NJCAA Division II national tournaments on Tuesday.

The men (24-8) will take on Iowa Lakes CC at 11 a.m. at Danville Area (Ill.) CC.

The women (25-7) face Community College of Rhode Island at 9 a.m. at Illinois Central College.
