EDMONTON — A third-period surge enabled the Detroit Red Wings to salvage a pair of points Friday night, beating the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 in overtime.

Pavel Datsyuk made a brilliant move to burn Jeff Petry and fire a shot past Devan Dubnyk to lift Red Wings.

Detroit (13-10-5) snapped a three-game winless streak (0-2-1) and wraps up its Western Canada road trip today in Vancouver.

Datsyuk ended an 11-game goal-scoring drought. The Red Wings swept their three-game season series with the Oilers.

Trailing 2-0 after two periods, the Red Wings dominated the third, outshooting the Oilers 12-6 and getting a pair of goals to tie it.

Valtteri Filppula scored the Red Wings' first goal, lifting a backhand shot from the slot over goaltender Devan Dubnyk's right shoulder at 4:27 of the third period. It was Filppula's sixth goal of the season and second goal in as many games after he had missed seven games with a shoulder injury.

Jackets make moves

COLUMBUS — The Columbus Blue Jackets activated defenseman John Moore off injured reserve after he missed eight games with a shoulder injury, called up forward Sean Collins from their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass., and assigned defenseman Cody Goloubef to the AHL Falcons.

Moore has two goals and six assists in 82 career games with the Blue Jackets. The former first-rounder, 21st overall in the 2009 draft, has one assist in 13 games this season.

Goloubef has appeared in 10 games with Columbus this season, scoring his first and only NHL goal on Feb. 11 vs. San Jose.
