Express men and women rally for victories

The Owens Community College men’s basketball team won its third straight game with a 92-86 home win over Cincinnati State Tech on Saturday.

The Express (14-4) exploded for 54 points in the second half after trailing 44-38 at halftime.

Leading the way was sophomore forward Bikramjit Gill with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

He also added eight blocks in the win.

Freshman point guard Shaakir Lindsey came off the bench and pumped in 30 points — going 8 for 10 from the field and making all 12 of his free throws.

Starting guard, freshman John Murry added 16.

CSTCC (16-2) was led by Winston Grays with 26 points.

 

WOMEN

Owens 88, Cincinnati State Tech 82

Shooting 66 percent from the field in the second half, the Express women poured in 50 points to rally from a 47-38 deficit at halftime to extend their winning streak to seven games.

Owens (16-1) were ked with 29 points from sophomore point guard Kamilah Carter, while freshman combo guard Ashley Tunstall chipped in 22 with 10 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Eboni Adams had 18 points while freshman combo guard Zhana Randolph added 11.

Cincinnati State Tech (11-7) was led by Phylicia Johnson with 30 points. The Express have not lost since Nov. 26, 2013.
