Right-hander Buck Farmer, who made his major league debut last week for the Detroit Tigers, gave up eight runs in 1/3 of an inning to the Clippers as the Mud Hens lost in Columbus, 11-6, on Monday night.

Farmer gave up a home run to Giovanny Urshela as Toledo’s hopes for a push to the playoffs suffered a major setback. Urshela went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, three RBIs and his 13th home run of the season.

The Mud Hens tried to climb back into the game, scoring four runs in the fourth inning to make it an 8-5 game. But Columbus scored two runs in the bottom of the inning off of Jose Ortega to increase its lead.

Ortega gave up two earned runs in 2/3 of an inning.

Mud Hens first baseman Jordan Lennerton pitched the final two innings, striking out two while not giving up a hit or a walk.

Outfielder Tyler Collins hit his 18th homer of the season for Toledo, while third baseman Wade Gaynor went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Josh Outman got the victory.
