Toledo's Fletcher named first-team All-MAC

    Toledo's Tre'Shaun Fletcher was named to the first-team All-Mid-American Conference team.

  • University of Toledo senior Tre’Shaun Fletcher was named first-team All-Mid-American Conference on Monday by the league’s coaches, while Rockets’ junior Jaelan Sanford and Bowling Green junior Demajeo Wiggins were named to the second team.

    Fletcher, a transfer from Colorado, is the lone player to rank in the top five in the MAC in scoring, rebounding, and assists. His 18.7 points per game ranks third in the MAC, his 8.2 rebounds per game ranks fourth, and his 4.5 assists per game mark is tied for second.

    Rounding out the All-MAC first team are Buffalo’s CJ Massinburg and Nick Perkins, Western Michigan’s Thomas Wilder, and Eastern Michigan’s James Thompson IV.

    Sanford is ninth in the MAC in scoring at 16.3 points per game, 10th in 3-point percentage at 40.1 percent, and ninth in 3-pointers made at 2.1 per game.

    Wiggins, a Springfield High School product, averages 14.1 points per game, is second in the conference at 10.1 rebounds per game, and is fourth in field-goal percentage at 57.4 percent.

    Joining Sanford and Wiggins on the All-MAC second team are Northern Illinois’ Eugene German, Buffalo’s Jeremy Harris, and Ball State’s Tayler Persons.

    The All-MAC third team consists of Ball State’s Trey Moses, Buffalo’s Wes Clark, Eastern Michigan’s Elijah Minnie, Kent State’s Jaylin Walker, and Miami’s Darrian Ringo.

    Bowling Green’s Justin Turner and Toledo’s Marreon Jackson were named to the All-Freshman team, while Turner also was named honorable mention All-MAC.

    Turner leads the Falcons in scoring at 15.8 points per game, while Jackson is averaging 7.5 points and 2.8 assists per game for the Rockets.

    The rest of the honorable mention All-MAC performers were Akron’s Daniel Utomi, Eastern Michigan’s Paul Jackson, Miami’s Nike Sibande, and Ohio’s Jordan Dartis.

    Joining Turner and Jackson on the All-Freshman team are Bowsher grad and Miami freshman Dalonte Brown, Miami’s Nike Sibande, and Ohio’s Teyvion Kirk.

    The MAC also named its All-Defensive team, which consists of Eastern Michigan’s Thompson and Tim Bond, Miami’s Ringo, Buffalo’s Davonta Jordan, and Western Michigan’s Bryce Moore.
