Girls Basketball: Delta sneaks past Clay to improve to 19-1

DELTA 51, CLAY 50

The visiting Panthers avoided the girls basketball upset as Clay fired in a 3-pointer with a half-second left but couldn’t come any closer Saturday night. Delta (19-1) was led by Maddie Mattimore with 14 points.

Abby Freeman had 12 points, and Brooklyn Green scored 10.

Olivia Henneman-Dallape led the Eagles (8-13) with 11 points. Samantha Stanley added 10 points.

Ashlynn Brown scored a season-high 26 points, Whitney Thames added 12, and the Yellow Jackets (17-3, 13-0) continued to roll after clinching the Northern Lakes League championship. Shea Pedroza led Napoleon with 18 points.

SWANTON 43, OTSEGO 30

TONTOGANY — Sidney Taylor scored 13 points and Cydney Christensen as Swanton won on the road.

Jaclyn Ghesquiere led Otsego with nine points.

WHITMER 59, MAGNIFICAT 45

ROCKY RIVER — Abby Hickey scored 18 points and Maddie Brown added 10 for the Panthers (14-7), who won a nonconference matchup.

Ailish Chambers had 14 points for Magnificat (2-18).

EVERGREEN 62, WOODWARD 25

METAMORA — Hannah Herr and Bailie Sutter both scored 12 to lead the Vikings.

Brasia Lee scored 11 points for Woodward.

LAKE 67, OTTAWA HILLS 34

Lexi Robinson finished with 21 points and Mya Staczek 10 for visiting Lake (15-6).

Sophie Summers led the Green Bears (8-12) with 11 points.

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 49, GIBSONBURG 32

GIBSONBURG — Cat Jones led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points as the Eagles won Toledo Area Athletic Conference action.

Naomi Jones added 12 points and Ella Zaborowski had 11 for Toledo Christian (13-8, 11-3 TAAC).

Becca Morelock finished with 13 points for Gibsonburg (5-14, 5-8).

NORTHWOOD 45, JONES ACADEMY 27

Ashlyn Roble scored 20 points and Sarah Frye added 13 for the host Rangers.

Rukia Wilborn led Jones Academy with nine points.

OAK HARBOR 50, PORT CLINTON 32

PORT CLINTON — Logan Harris scored 13 points and Sophia Eli 12 as the Rockets (16-4, 8-3) won in Sandusky Bay Conference play with a covincing effort.

Delayna Laurel led Port Clinton (5-16, 3-8) with 10.
